The Lisbon lemon is a vigorous, evergreen citrus tree with Portuguese origins—likely a Gallego seedling. Brought to the U.S. in the 19th century, it has been widely cultivated commercially and in home gardens. Glossy, dark green leaves; new growth may have thorns; white, star-shaped, and strongly fragrant blooms often appear multiple times a year. Medium-to-large, bright yellow lemons (5–8 cm long), thick but smooth rind, often seedless or with few seeds. One hallmark is that fruits tend to grow within the canopy, making them more protected and visually perfect.
