Is a hardy, evergreen shrub or small fruiting tree presented in a staked 7–9 L pot. Native to Southern Africa, this plant is known for its dense, glossy foliage and formidable spines, making it an excellent natural security hedge. It produces small, greenish flowers in spring and summer, followed by tangy, yellow-orange fruit rich in vitamin C, ideal for eating fresh or making jams. The plant thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, and while young specimens require regular watering, mature plants are drought-tolerant and frost-hardy down to –7 degree. With a moderate growth rate, it can be easily pruned into shape or left to grow into a bushy screen. The staked format encourages upright growth, making this a versatile choice for both garden landscapes and large containers.
